Meet Youth Pastor - Philip Melton

Our mission as the youth ministry of FBCJ is to create Bold, Confident, Disciples of Jesus Christ who are prepared to be Servant Leaders in an ever changing world.

If I had to think of a word to describe our youth ministry here at FBCJ, it would be family. This is the type of atmosphere we desire to create at each of our student worship services, Bible studies, and ministry activities. So come and be our guest - you have a place here!

Our youth ministry is built around seven foundations that we desire each student be firmly grounded in by the time they graduate High School.

1) Faith that is Real - "Trusting in God"

2) Spiritual Disciplines - "Digging a Spiritual Foundation"

3) Boundaries in Relationships - "Establishing Biblical Moral Limits"

4) Healthy Friendships - "Choosing the Right Friends"

5) Wise Choices - "Making Wise Decisions"

6) God's Authority - Finding Freedom in God's Authority"

7) Putting Others First - "Serving Others"

Take a moment and browse our upcoming discipleship opportunities  for teens:

  • Twenty times in the New Testament, Jesus issued a compelling and challenging invitation to follow Him. He’s not interested in mere fans. Join us as we examine what it means to deny one’s self and truly follow Jesus.

Volunteering in FBCJ Youth Ministry:

There are ample opportunities for volunteering in our student ministry. Our volunteer opportunities fit into three categories:

1) Single Event: A single ministry event (chaperone for DNow, Game Night, or a Fundraiser Meal)

2) Discipleship Ministry: Working in a hands on ministry with teens (participating in Recharge, teaching an occasional study, leading  a small group of students)

3) Youth Ministry Team: Serving in a strategic planning role and willing to lead both students and adults in ministry.

Please email Philip at to volunteer or find out more information about volunteering.
